On Saturday Mike worked, and I did a long bike ride to prepare for the Courage. My friend Heidi and I met up in Denver and biked from the Cherry Creek trail up to the E470 trail, then went west ending at Chatfield Lake - 40 miles in all! Is was a bit too city for me, but had some great challenging hills. As with Pikes, my heart/health were doing just fine, but what was not so fine was anything touching the bike: feet, hiney, wrists. It felt great to finish though, and hopefully it will prepare us a bit better for next weekend. (Heidi is the lone woman biking the Courage with me. Woohoo! Tuwanda!)
Today, Mike and I drove up to Buena Vista, where we stumbled upon the Midland Trail. It's a short windy single track which leads up to an old railroad grade - way more my speed - that runs over the Arkansas River and looks down upon the town. Here's Mike on the Arkansas. We enjoyed a beautiful bike ride through the thunder.
Afterwards, we went to Pizza Works for a tasty dinner, then watched the beautiful sunset over town.
