I Like Her So Much I Hate Her

I have this friend that I hate. I only hate her, though, because she's so wonderful and everyone knows it. I think there's a word for this...starts with a j...Jam? Jalopa? Jail bait?

So Sarah Swan just started a blog and it's wonderful. It's wonderful because she's intelligent and interesting and insightful and gracious and funny and honest. But I already knew all that, and I don't hate her for those reasons.

I hate her because she started a blog and on the first post, she got 20 comments on the first day. I've never gotten 20 comments on anything, not even when I told you my cancer had gone into remission. That never happened, but still. Most of you balanced people out there will read this and think, "Wow, Amber is a jerk." And you'd be right. But I know that at least Liz understands. Can I get a what what, Liz?

She even got an offer to be published by a commentor on her first post. Are you kidding me? I'm so jalopa right now.

Seeing the response to Sarah's blog, I thought, "Wow people really like Sarah. I want to be liked. Maybe I should try to be a better person like Sarah and stop making tasteless jokes about cancer so that more people will like me." But that would be a pretty bad reason to try to be a better person. So, I'll just stay mediocre until I have better motivation.

So while I wallow in pride and self-obsession and mediocrity, you should go read her blog! But if you comment, I'll kill you. Unless you want to comment about her blog on my blog. That's allowed.

I'll leave 20 random comments in this post over the next few days. Happy?

Also, would it kill you to know that I got asked to write small group training material on my second post?

I hate you too, Aaron.

But yes, please follow through with the pity comments.

I like you, Amber. :) But somehow I don't think that counts. It's like your mom telling you she thinks you're beautiful. She's your MOM.

Yes, she seems to have skipped straight to success. Although it would be wrong for me to dislike her, even in jest, I do have to roll my eyes and accept the inevitable. Hahahah!!

If it is any consolation I do list your blog as a great one to read from my blog. The fact that the readers I have for my own blog usually come from the facebook link means that most of my posts appear commentless. It also means that precious few ever see your link but I do what I can. :)

I would comment more perhaps but I am always conscious of boundaries and don't want to be perceived as Sarah's creepy dad who meddles around the edges of her friendships.

Having overly explained myself again, let me just say I enjoy your posts here (including the current one) and have also enjoyed watching your new business venture get off the ground.

Blessings to both you and Mike!

John, you're not the creepy dad on the fringes. Sarah is as fabulous as she is, in part, due to the fact that she came from the two single coolest parents I've ever met.

See, I knew if I dissed Sarah I could at least get pity comments from her parents. My plan is working. Mwa ha ha ha!

You gave me a shout out!! I love those, Amber. You know, I have been a little lax in my commenting, and darlin' so have you, so maybe if we each commented 15 times on each others posts, we could rival Sarah. Is it a plan?

Oh, Amber, I also thought...you deserve comments. You have "thoughts" and "ideas" and "do fun stuff" while I am so lazy I just post cute pics of my kid. I am SO one of those moms that thinks everything her kid does is amazing and everyone should just talk about that all the time : ) Sorry. Very annoying.

Ah, yes, and one MORE thing....I am not in your blog roll since you switched the format : ( I feel unloved.

Jk.

but...um,...no really.

Liz, your pics of Micah are not annoying!!! Keep them up.

Also, I actually have not even looked at my blog roll for approximately 2 years. I have no idea who is even on it. Maybe I'll look into that.

I think that maybe you have a different audience than Sarah. Yes, we all know Sarah is awesome--mainly because our names rhyme--but maybe she has lots of friends that don't work as hard as your friends. Or maybe her friends all own IPads so they can access the internet everywhere so they can all comment at any time. Or maybe because she paid them to comment. . .

I love reading your blog Am! Keep up the good work!!

Just kiddin' Sarah. . .now I need to go read your new blog!

I have gotten a total of 5 comments on all 6 of my blogs! Dang Sarah, if I only i didn't love her blogging as well! oh well :-)

I kind of feel like I have nothing good to say, even in comments, so I try to avoid them and on occasion stay as short as possible to avoid exposing myself as the non-writer, engineer I am :-)

Amber, I haven't even made it over to Sarah's blog yet, but I love how you hate those you like so much. You are special Amber. Very special in my eyes. (Wow, that's sounding creepy now!)
